A NEW SERIES OF SUNDAY WORKSHOPS IN THE FAST & FUN TANGO 'MILONGA' PLUS ONGOING BEGINNER ARGENTINE TANGO WILL BE TAUGHT THROUGHOUT JULY AT THE CHEVY CHASE BALLROOM
From July 5th through July 26th, Rene' Davila will teach a new Sunday milonga series each week from 7-8pm, followed by Tango and Milonga dancing until 11pm. Terry will continue beginner tango at the same time.
Join us for this fast and furious Argentine dance, starting with the very easy and basic beginner level Milonga Lisa on July 5th and progressing through more advanced Milonga Traspie every Sunday at the Chevy Chase Ballroom in July. You won't want to miss any of them, as consistency in attendance each week is highly recommended to keep up and perfect a fun milonga combination by July 26. Terry Chasteen will also be available during this period for beginners who only wish to continue perfecting their basic Argentine Tango.

I will always remember Pat O'Brien as the first TV personality to ever show our movie trailer
from the 2003 comedy on national television, Head Of State; written by, starring and directed
by the 'official' first African American Presidential candidate, Chris Rock. It was on Access
Hollywood at 3:00am, no less...(now who can you call at 3am to tell that you just found out
that you're actually in the trailer of a major motion picture!?.... NO ONE! See below).

Pat O'Brien is especially significant to me personally as being the first TV broadcaster to announce and show the movie trailer that included a cameo performance of one of my dance partners and myself in Chris Rock's 2003 comedy, "Head Of State". As of September of this year he is hanging up his mic from The Insider.

How could I ever forget the person who first introduced the movie trailer on national TV that showed us dancing our 'Crypt Walks' Hip Hop routine at a WASP'y and "more sophisticated" as they called us (they meant to say OLDER, but were just trying to be politically correct...) black-tie fundraiser to Nelly's 'Hot In Here'....at 3am in my very own living room, no less! Especially when up to that point we weren't even sure if all of our efforts would even make it into the flick, let alone in the movie trailer and on National TV! I can remember as though it was yesterday when Pat announced in the wee hours of a Thursday morning that we'd be watching the new trailer of the first movie that Chris Rock wrote, directed and starred in. "That must be our movie, Head Of State" thought I. And who would have ever guessed I'd see myself and other Chevy Chase Ballroom dancers in the actual TRAILER of a major motion picture right there in my own living room...before God and everyone? The rest is history as they ran it on every TV and movie screen across the US for the next 6 weeks until the movie came out on March 28, 2003 (They ran the trailer so often all day and all night on practically every TV program known to man that people were starting to complain to me that they were sick of seeing it...oh well...just one of the pitfalls of fame and glory...consequently I decided against slitting my wrists, after all...).

Pat O'Brien joined the Insider crew in 2004 after his seven-year run on Access Hollywood, which was the show where he ran our 15 seconds of movie fame. 15 seconds, which I might add, was luckily caught on tape and later on DVD and would ultimately be played over and over and over again on every TV and movie screen across the US untill the movie came out and even since on HBO, DVD or pay TV. Or when the trailer is watched from now to eternity at www.Mooviees.com, www.imbd.com, www.Movies.Yahoo.com .

The 60-year-old TV personality (same age as yours truly, in fact...) reportedly is leaving his post as a correspondent on the syndicated celebrity-gossip show, The Insider after more than four years on the job. O'Brien seemingly took issue with the show's focus on fashion while people all over the country are struggling to put food on the table.

"I was approached a hundred times by people on the Obama campaign trail asking, 'Can you help us?' I tried to tell them we care, but they didn't buy it. They wanted to, but watching...Lara [Spencer] pick out accessories makes the viewers want to vomit. I'll get killed for this, said O'Brian, but I'm actually the one not afraid for my job. I want people to be happy."

The other significant figure for me from that incredible once-in-a-lifetime movie experience, a significant figure who was recently lost to all of us and who became forever part of my life was the incredibly talented and down-to-earth, Bernie Mac. I will never forget sitting down next to him while we were waiting outside of the movie set to tape a scene and asking him, after having recently watched an Oprah Show where she continually praised his work on The Bernie Mac Show, "Bernie, do you have any idea how much Oprah really loves you"?
He laughed and said "yeah, I think I do". His brilliance as an artist and comedian will definitely be missed.
