Upcoming Dance-&-Learn Parties, which always include beginner mini-dance classes of
all varieties at the Chevy Chase Ballroom & DanceSport Center are scheduled on the following dates:

Friday, Saturday and Holiday Dance-&-Learn Parties always include beginner mini-classes in all of the social dance styles, such as Ballroom, Salsa, Swing, Disco/Hustle, C/W, the social Latin dances and more, as well as beginner and intermediate Argentine Tango classes in the second studio from 9 - 9:45pm. All of this followed by an Argentine Tango beginner/intermediate milonga in studio B. Dance-&-Learn Parties start at 7:00pm, with the Tango classes and milonga continuing in the second studio while the Ballroom, Latin & Swing dancing take place in studio A at the same time. Join us monthly at the Chevy Chase Ballroom & DanceSport Center.

Dance-&-Learn Parties and special Holiday Parties are scheduled on the following dates:

(1) Sunday, December 9th Special SAOCO DC annual Sunday Holiday year-end party, the "SAOCO Salsa Olympics" from 5pm-11pm which included additional workshops in Salsa on 2, New York style, Salsa on 1 and Rueda Group patterns from 6-7pm followed by dancing in many different styles by request .... PLUS! a hilarious "So You Think You Can Dance DC"/"Dancing With The DC Stars" Mini-competition between a dozen dancing couples. The winners were chosen by audience applause. Plus "Dancing with the DC Stars" mini-dance competitions open to everyone (winners are chosen by audience applause, so invite your most loud and obnoxious friends)

Lastly we will be providing an opportunity for everyone in the Washington Metropolitan area to experience more fun, more entertainment, more music and more dancing in one night than one could possibly imagine. And THAT is a PROMISE!...ASL will be available and both blind and deaf dancers are welcome and encouraged. We guarantee that they'll have as much fun as those who see and hear.
Dress will be formal or semi-formal consisting of (1) black-tie, (2) suit or jacket and tie or (3) white tie and tails, plus formal gown or drag (no campy worn out drag costumes, please. We want everyone to look fabulous for all of the media who will be attending...and we guarantee there will be TONS! of media attending...).
Also not to worry if you're not already dancing. A major portion of those attending will be brand new beginners. Plus we'll have plenty of dance teachers and assistants available to help anyone with questions about their dancing both during and between instruction. Invite "ALL" of your friends and family members to join us as this is definitely not going to be a "LGBT-only event", but rather one that encourages everyone to come together to celebrate these incredible gifts of music and dance and to participate from all aspects of the Metropolitan Washington area. A concept that some in the LGBT community feel should be much more promoted to better exemplify the true social lifestyles of the LGBT community as opposed to what some prefer to portray. One of the main objectives of this event in addition to encouraging fundraising and awareness for all of our incredible charitable organizations is to encourage all same-gender couples and those in the LGBT community to become more comfortable with dancing "Out of the Closet" and "Out On The Dance Floor!!" in the non-LGBT public.
With room for only about 300 guests maximum to attend, plan to make your reservations early at TerryChasteen@yahoo.com. This event is still in the infancy of it's planning and nothing is yet written in stone, so we are interested in any suggestions and of course in volunteers. However even at this early stage of our planning, we do GUARANTEE that everyone attending, from all walks of life, will enjoy more fun, more entertainment, more music and MORE DANCING in one night than one can possibly imagine. This DanceSPORT event will be unlike anything ever before experienced in the shadows of our Nation's Capitol.

The admission is "FREE!!", though any corporate sponsorships and donations to any of our (or your) chosen charities will definitely be appreciated. We encourage everyone, including the kids, to contact their friends, teachers, family members and/or business associates to obtain pledges, though that is definitely not a requirement to attend. 7:30pm-10:30pm Open dancing in studio A to the "BEST" Salsa and Latin music plus monthly scheduled performances by some of Metropolitan Washington's top Salsa and Rueda dance companies.

Gay DanceSPORT Saturday mornings & early afternoons

New and more advanced LGBT Country/Western Two Step & Waltz, plus Latin and Ballroom & Swing classes in DC on Saturday mornings and early afternoons. Geared toward more advanced beginner & intermediate dancers going to Gay Games, Chicago, 2006 & the 1st World OutGames, Montreal, 2006, these classes are both for those competing in any of the 3 dance styles that will be offered for the first time in 2006 or merely for social dancing as spectators. As a spectator you'll definitely want to dance all 3 styles with the many other dancers from around the world during the many social events that are sure to be scheduled in Chicago and Montreal. Absolutely no partner or previous dance experience necessary to attend. Two levels of teachers will be made available at the same time as the level of dancing progresses. Also, one need not necessarily be planning to attend in 2006 to participate in these classes.

(Early Friday evening studio space may also be made available soon for training and practice between 5:30pm and 8:30pm, along with early Sunday afternoon classes in Country/Western, International Ballroom & Latin and social ballroom & Swing from 2:30pm to 4:00pm).

Schedule:
11:30am Beginner Cha Cha & Rumba
12:30pm Social Ballroom & Swing (1/2 hour of technique and turn-patterns in each)

Cost: $10.00 for the first class, $6.00 second class, $4.00 3rd class. Your first class taught by Terry at the Chevy Chase Ballroom, however is FREE (download the "1st-class-is-free pass" at GayDanceSPORT.com), which does not exclude those having attended any previous dance "events", such as Lambda DanceSPORT Sundays, The Sunday Salsa & Latin Social or Dance-&-Learn Parties. Also by bringing in a Gay DanceSPORT.com discount coupon from your favorite non-profit, each paid class is reduced by $2 and 1/3 of the amount paid goes to the designated 501c3. “Dance Team DC” is now forming for those possibly interested in attending Gay Games, Chicago, 2006 or World OutGames, Montreal, 2006 either as competitors OR as a spectators.

No previous dance experience is necessary, so don’t hesitate. Most of those competing will be in the beginner levels and will not be competing against the more advanced dancers. The objective is to encourage participation, regardless of your level. Contact Ralph Bradley at EarlyRide@msn.com if interested in possibly attending.
Fund-raising dance events will be organized over the next 16 months to help cover expenses for those who participate (both as competitors and spectators) and may also include joint fund-raisers with the DC Council of Sport's "Team DC", as well as joint events with other individual teams that will be attending these two unprecedented North American sports events.
As "Dance Party Animals", Dance Team DC is well-prepared to help organize and conduct such fund-raising events so everyone will ultimately benefit from the joint participation with DC's numerous other sports teams.
There are at least 7 dance couples already planning to attend plus others looking for partners. Most are BEGINNERS, so JOIN US! The goal is a minimum of AT LEAST 20 COUPLES by 2006!
