The goal of "Lambda DanceSPORT DC", besides
just encouraging better dancing in the LGBT community, is to promote social
dancing by some and competition by others during the major upcoming LGBT
dance events, Gay Games VIII, Copenhagen, 2010 and the World OutGames
II Cologne, 2009. Prepare to join members of the LGBT community, their
friends and families every Sunday in studio "B" during the "Sunday
Salsa, Brazilian Samba, Rueda and Tango Social" classes and dance
party at the Chevy Chase Ballroom. We offer beginner and up instruction
in the Gay Games® and World OutGames Ballroom, Latin, Swing and Country/Western
dances for both social and/or competitive purposes or for dancing at upcoming
IAGLCWDC (International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country and Western
Dance Clubs) Country/Western competitions or exhibitions. All of this
followed by general dancing, practice and other mini-workshops in Salsa,
Disco/Hustle, Argentine Tango and more, by request of anyone attending
at the Chevy Chase Ballroom. Most of those attending will NOT be competing,
so please don't let the decision not to compete discourage you.
As official party animals, "Lambda DanceSPORT
DC" will be assisting in the hosting and organizing of future local
dance fund-raisers and events for the purpose of assisting those who plan
to travel to Gay Games and World OutGames, along with fund-raisers for
other Team DC (the
DC Council of Sports) sports organizations, of which Lambda DanceSport
DC is an associate organization, by request. Those who may benefit may
be competitors or merely spectators or assistants to the competitors.
Whether you're merely interested in couples' dancing
on a strictly social level of all dance styles, future C/W competition
in IAGLCWDC (The
International Association of Gay/Lesbian Country & Western Dance Clubs),
competing in the beginner or intermediate levels of Ballroom, Latin or
Country/Western of Gay
Games® VIII, Copenhagen, 2010, or the
World OutGames II Cologne, 2009, this weekly dance event is a great
way for members of the LGBT community to become more familiar with and
accomplished in all of the popular social couples' dances.
For those who were able to watch the 3-dance performance
of Russell Halley and Jorge Guzman during the 2003 Atlantic States Gay
Rodeo Association (ASGRA) performance or at any of their other performances
across the U.S. and around the world, this is some of the training we'll
be teaching (on a more beginner level, of course). Absolutely anyone could
be able to compete in either the beginner or intermediate levels in Gay
Games® VIII, 2010 or the World OUTGames II, 2009, or dance in any
exhibition or competition in C/W, Ballroom, Latin or Swing by next year.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
2:00pm to 3:00pm: Beginner social and International
Ballroom, Latin &/or Swing taught by Terry and line dances taught
by Mein [the dance(s) taught will be determined by those in attendance].
3:00pm to 4:00pm: Beginner to intermediate/advanced
C/W 2-Step or Swing (E. Coast, W. Coast, Jive or lindy hop) taught by
Terry & assisted by Mein
PLUS:
Authentic
Brazilain Samba classes in Carnaraval &
Gafieira taught by Danielle
Areco, a true Brazilian from Sao Paulo, including ladies' and men's styling
and numerous HOT moves that you can use at Mardi Gras events and in the
dance clubs.
4:00pm to 5:00pm: Beginner and intermediate/advanced
Salsa on 1 (2 levels with 2 teachers at once)
PLUS:
A second Brazilian Dance Mix class in Lambada,
Forro and Axe if there are enough attending to form a class (Which will
eventually change over time to include Samba Rock, Brazilian Bolero, Pagode,
Vanerao, etc...)
5:00pm to 6:00pm: Beginner Salsa Rueda taught by
Erneto Reyes and SAOCO DC Rueda Performance group
PLUS:
Beginner and eventually intermediate/advanced Social & International
Cha Cha taught by Terry.
6:00pm to 7:00pm: Intermediate Salsa Rueda for those
qualified to attend (no additional charge for one or all 3 Rueda classes)
taught by Erneto Reyes and SAOCO DC Rueda Performance group
PLUS:
6:00pm to 7:30pm: Beginner and intermediate to eventually
advanced Argentine Tango taught by Arnaud Lucas and Bella Sterling.
7:00pm to 7:30pm: Advanced Salsa Rueda for those
qualified to attend (no additional charge for one or all 3 Rueda classes)
taught by Erneto Reyes and SAOCO DC Rueda Performance group
7:30pm to 10:00pm: the "Sunday Salsa, Brazilian
Samba, Rueda and Tango Social" Dance Party, including social dancing
and practice to all styles of music in Chevy Chase Ballroom's studio B,
plus other mini-workshops in Salsa, Argentine Tango, Disco/Hustle and
more, upon request. If there ever was a dance that you wanted to learn,
this is your chance!

ADMISSION:
(A) For non-members of Lambda DanceSPORT DC, $12.00 for 1 Sunday class
(less online discounts), $7.00 for the 2nd Sunday clas, $6.00 for the
3rd Sunday class before 5:00pm and $5.00 for the 4th Sunday class before
5:00pm (a total of $30.00 for someone who wishes to dance all afternoon).
Salsa Rueda and Argentine Tango classes are $12.00 and $15.00 respectively
after 5pm. Dancing and practice is FREE from 7:30pm - 10:00pm for anyone
who has taken any of the earlier Sunday classes or $12.00 for the dance
only, which may include instruction by request. Look for "First-Class-Is-Free
Passes", for first-timers attending, plus "2-For-the-Price-of-1
Discount Passes" so everyone saves whenever someone brings a new

New and more advanced LGBT
Country/Western Two Step & Waltz,
plus Latin and Ballroom
& Swing classes in DC on Saturday
mornings and early afternoons
starting March 12. Geared toward more advanced beginner & intermediate
dancers going to Gay Games and World OutGames, these classes are both
for those competing in any of the 3 dance styles that will be offered
for the first time in 2006 or merely for social dancing as spectators.
As a spectator you'll definitely want to dance all 3 styles with the many
other dancers from around the world during the many social events that
are sure to be scheduled in Chicago and Montreal. Absolutely no partner
or previous dance experience necessary to attend. Two levels of teachers
will be made available at the same time as the level of dancing progresses.
Also, one need not necessarily be planning to attend Gay Games or OutGames
to participate in these classes.
Schedule:
10:30am Two Step and/or Country Waltz (1/2 hour of a more advanced pattern
in each, if requested)
11:30am Beginner Cha Cha
12:30pm Social Ballroom & Swing (1/2 hour of technique and turn-patterns
in each)
Cost: $12.00 for the first class, $7.00 second class, $5.00 3rd class
or $45.00 / 10-class dance card for Lambda DanceSPORT DC yahoo Group members.

“Lambda
DanceSPORT DC” is now preparing those interested in attending Gay
Games, 2010 or World OutGames, 2009 either as competitors OR as a spectators.
No previous dance experience
is necessary, so don’t hesitate. Most of those competing will be
in the beginner levels and will not be competing against the more advanced
dancers. The objective is to encourage participation, regardless of your

attending.
Fund-raising dance events will be organized over the next few years to
help cover expenses for those who participate (both as competitors and
spectators) and may also include joint fund-raisers with the DC Council
of Sport's "Team DC", as well as joint events with other individual
teams that will be attending these two unprecedented North American sports
events.
As "Dance Party Animals", Dance Team DC is well-prepared to
help organize and conduct such fund-raising events so everyone will ultimately
benefit from the joint participation with DC's numerous other sports teams.
The goal is a minimum of AT LEAST 20 COUPLES by 2009! If you’re

most incredible LGBT dance events EVER!. Consequently you won’t
want to miss them or miss being prepared to dance all 4 dance styles with

to weekly Capital Country classes and events to the Chevy Chase Ballroom
